Livingston County plans weeklong cleanup

Roadsides, parks, and cemeteries across Livingston County could see a spring cleanup as volunteers prepare for Earth Day.

County officials announced the ninth annual Livingston County Community Cleanup will take place April 18–26.

Residents, community groups, and local organizations are invited to organize cleanup projects or volunteer at existing events.

Organizers say the effort encourages communities to improve public spaces and prepare them for increased use ahead of Memorial Day.

Cleanup projects may focus on places such as parks, roadsides, historic sites, community gardens, schools, town halls, and cemeteries.

Participants can either host their own event or sign up to help with one already scheduled.

“Every spring, it’s incredibly inspiring to see residents joining in the cleanup and preservation of our shared spaces throughout the County,” said David LeFeber, chair of the Livingston County Board of Supervisors. “By caring for these public lands today, we preserve the natural beauty of our region for future generations to enjoy.”

Officials said the event aims to bring residents together while improving the environmental health of public areas across the county.
