A landmark church in the heart of Dryden will soon reopen as a community gathering space after a local nonprofit purchased the building, according to the Ithaca Voice.
The Dryden Center for Community bought the former Dryden United Methodist Church at 9 E. Main St. for $275,000 after the congregation closed last year. The 150-year-old building will host activities like yoga classes, art programs, concerts and community events.
Organizers launched a $400,000 fundraising campaign to cover the purchase, renovations and startup costs. Leaders say the goal is to create a “third space” where residents can gather, connect and build community.
