Traffic stop in Lyons leads to DWI, other charges for 79-year-old

A traffic stop on Canal Street in Lyons ended with a 79-year-old Savannah man facing multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated.

James J. Foss was arrested around 5:30 p.m. Feb. 28 following the stop, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said they pulled over Foss’ vehicle on Canal Street in the Town of Lyons.

After investigating, deputies determined Foss was intoxicated.

Authorities transported him to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for processing. Deputies said Foss refused to submit to a chemical test while there.

Foss was charged with two counts of failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to use a turn signal at least 100 feet before turning, speed not reasonable or prudent, and driving while intoxicated.

Deputies took Foss to CAP Court. He is scheduled to appear in Lyons Town Court at a later date.
