A 15-year-old girl was arrested Tuesday after investigators said she posted a threat of mass harm targeting a school in Seneca County.
Authorities said they determined there was no active threat to students or staff after locating the teen and investigating the report.
Sheriff Timothy Thompson said the arrest followed an allegation that the teen made the threat online Feb. 24. Investigators from the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office worked with the Seneca Falls and Waterloo police departments during the investigation.
Officials charged the teen with making a threat of mass harm. She is scheduled to appear before the Seneca County Probation Department at a later date.
Because she is a minor, authorities did not release her name.
During the investigation, the Waterloo Central School District placed its schools in a brief lockdown as a precaution.
