A driver turning onto North Main Street struck a 74-year-old man who was crossing with the signal Monday afternoon.
Sanford Germany of Canandaigua was in a marked crosswalk at North Main and North Street when a vehicle hit him around 3:43 p.m., according to police.
Officers said Germany had the “WALK” signal when he began crossing. A vehicle traveling east on North Street was making a right turn to head south on North Main Street when the collision occurred.
Police identified the driver as 24-year-old Mariah McCauley of Shortsville. She was not injured.
Germany suffered minor injuries. An ambulance took him to F.F. Thompson Hospital for treatment.
Police issued McCauley a traffic ticket for failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Canandaigua Police received assistance at the scene from the Canandaigua Emergency Squad and the Canandaigua Fire Department.
