Shoppers at Eastview Mall will soon see another storefront go dark, according to RochesterFirst. Eddie Bauer plans to close its mall location around April, and closing-out sale signs already hang in the windows.
The shutdown follows a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing by the company’s U.S. and Canada retail operator, which cited declining sales and inflation pressures. While the Eastview store will close, the operator says most other brick-and-mortar locations will remain open during restructuring.
The bankruptcy does not affect Eddie Bauer’s e-commerce site or wholesale operations, which will continue as usual. The Eastview location is expected to lock its doors sometime next month.
