Two empty west-end buildings could soon house 40 affordable condos, according to The Citizen. Syracuse-based Redev CNY wants to overhaul the former commercial properties at 28 Aurelius Ave., tackling major repairs and hazardous materials to bring them back to life.
The project would offer one-, two- and three-bedroom units for households earning $60,000 to $100,000. The Auburn Industrial Development Authority says the plan could help close the city’s “missing middle” housing gap and give first-time buyers and downsizing families new options.
Redev CNY hasn’t filed a formal application yet. The developer plans to seek tax abatements and state funding to make the numbers work, while a separate proposal would bring an 89-suite hotel to Grant Avenue.
