Geneva city leaders will get a deep dive into roads, water lines and major construction projects Tuesday night.
City Council has scheduled a special meeting for 6 p.m. on Feb. 17 at City Hall, 47 Castle St., in the second-floor conference room.
Mayor Steve Valentino will call the meeting to order before council members hear two presentations focused on the Department of Public Works and the city’s major infrastructure and capital projects.
Public Works Director Joseph Venuti is set to lead the DPW briefing. According to the meeting agenda packet, the department oversees the city’s transportation network, vehicle fleets, water and wastewater services, street lighting, public buildings and parks.
The department includes 50.5 full-time equivalent staff across multiple divisions, including engineering, highway maintenance, water operations and wastewater treatment.
The presentation outlines several 2026 work program goals. City officials aim to keep at least 90% of capital projects on schedule and on budget, inspect or rehabilitate at least 5% of sanitary lines and drainage systems, and complete major upgrades at the wastewater treatment plant by the fourth quarter.
Planned capital projects include the Castle Street Reconstruction Phase 1, the Clinton Street design and utility replacement project, and the Middle Street Bridge replacement.
Council members will also hear updates on water system improvements, including pump restoration work and the replacement of about 1,200 water meter encoders and endpoints, with completion targeted for the second quarter of 2026.
The agenda packet also highlights goals for buildings, parks and code enforcement. Those include launching a standardized facilities work order system, completing a DPW facilities study, reducing average code case resolution times by 10% and implementing a new case management system by the fourth quarter.
