SIM card theft leads to Canandaigua motel arrest

Deputies charged a woman after a reported theft at a Canandaigua motel led to an investigation.

Chasity R. Schorpp, 39, was taken into custody after deputies looked into a larceny complaint at the Woodridge Motel on County Road 50.

The incident happened Feb. 2, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded days later after the complainant reported that a $70 SIM card had been stolen from his cell phone.

Investigators said the complainant had reason to believe Schorpp took the SIM card while at the motel. After following up, deputies arrested her on a charge of petit larceny.

Authorities issued Schorpp an appearance ticket for Canandaigua Town Court. Deputy Outhouse handled the investigation.
