Reliant Credit Union put more money behind local students with a $1,250 donation to Wayne County Community Schools.

The credit union presented the check Monday during a visit to Sodus High School, joined by staff and school leaders.

Pamela Heald, Reliant’s president and CEO, said the donation reflects the credit union’s focus on students and families.

“At Reliant Credit Union, we believe strong communities start with investing in our students,” Heald said. “Wayne County Community Schools provides necessary programs that support learning beyond the classroom, and we’re proud to contribute to and participate in their work helping young people thrive during the school year and throughout the summer.”

The funding will help support after-school programs, summer enrichment, and other services offered through Wayne County Community Schools.

The organization works with schools and community partners to create programs that help students and families learn, grow, and succeed.

Reliant’s support goes beyond the check. The credit union also provides free financial education classes through the program.

Nelson Kise, superintendent of the Sodus Central School District, thanked Reliant for its continued involvement.

“With the uncertainty taking place in our world today, Reliant is the one constant that is consistently there for our community,” Kise said. “This very generous donation will directly impact programming and services offered to our students and their families.”

Reliant Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial institution serving more than 47,000 members across Monroe, Ontario, and Wayne counties. The credit union operates multiple branch locations and offers a full range of financial services, including mortgages and financial education.
