A check presentation at a Sodus elementary school marked a new investment in local students and families.
Reliant Credit Union donated $1,250 to the Community Schools Coalition of Monroe County during an event held Jan. 27 at Southlawn Elementary School in the West Irondequoit School District.
Credit union leaders presented the donation to representatives from the coalition, a network of more than 100 local organizations working together to support schools, students, and families across Monroe County.
“This donation reflects our belief in the power of collaboration to create stronger communities,” said Pamela Heald, Reliant’s president and CEO. “The Community Schools Coalition of Monroe County helps bridge critical gaps for young people and families, and we’re honored to support their efforts.”
Supporting students and families
Reliant said the donation will help the coalition connect young people and families with critical resources. The credit union has also begun working with the organization to offer free financial education to students and community members it serves.
The Community Schools Coalition of Monroe County operates across 10 school districts and 41 school buildings using a community schools framework.
“On behalf of our 110 organizations and over 300 members, I sincerely thank Reliant Credit Union for their donation,” said Dr. Joseph Fantigrossi, the coalition’s director. “This funding will assist us in continuing to support and sponsor the good work going on throughout our County.”
