Wayne County is gearing up for a yearlong public history push tied to the nation’s 250th anniversary, according to the Times of Wayne County. A new countywide initiative will explore America’s national identity through talks, tours, and interactive events starting this spring.
The effort, led by the Wayne County Historical Society with support from the New York State Department of Education, will feature discussion-based “Brewing Conflicts” events, self-guided driving history tours, and a keynote lecture by historian Jack Kelly.
Organizers say the programs aim to spark civil discourse, connect local history to modern issues, and complement America 250 and New York 250 celebrations.
