A long-stalled stretch of Canal Street is getting fresh momentum after a major funding win, according to The Finger Lakes Times. The village of Lyons secured $2 million in federal funding for its Canal Street Redevelopment Project, backed by Claudia Tenney.
Demolition began in December, clearing most condemned buildings tied to the project. Town leaders say only the former library and one nearby home remain, with removal planned next.
Officials now plan to seek a developer to build modern, community-focused projects, including housing and health care. The effort already includes millions in state and federal support and involves Wayne County partners.
A public project update is scheduled for Feb. 11 in Lyons.
