Sabres hold off Ducks for 13th win in last 14 games

Jack Quinn scored twice and the Buffalo Sabres held off a late Anaheim Ducks push to earn a 5-3 victory at KeyBank Center on Saturday night. The win marked Buffalo’s 13th in 14 games, the first time in franchise history the team has recorded that many wins in a stretch, and extended their home win streak to six.

The Sabres built a 3-0 lead before the final five minutes. Bowen Byram’s goal made it 3-0, and Quinn added his second of the night after Olen Zellweger scored for the Ducks with 4:44 remaining. Anaheim responded with two goals in 70 seconds to cut the deficit to one, but Alex Tuch set up Josh Norris for an empty-netter in the final seconds to secure the win.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 31 shots and carried a shutout into the third period. Tage Thompson contributed a goal and an assist, while linemates Zach Benson and Peyton Krebs each had two assists. Bowen Byram also scored, and Josh Doan extended his point streak to five games, drawing attention with his first career fight against Ducks forward Ryan Strome.

Box Score

The Sabres continue their five-game homestand on Monday when they host the Florida Panthers at 7 p.m.
