In a rare bipartisan move, the Senate voted 52–47 to demand President Trump get congressional approval for any future military action in Venezuela, according to Spectrum News.
Lawmakers were outraged after Trump launched a surprise raid to capture Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro without notifying Congress. Democrats, backed by five Republicans, warned against another “forever war” driven by oil interests.
Trump slammed the GOP defectors online, while Vice President JD Vance downplayed the backlash. The measure faces a likely veto and would need a two-thirds vote in both chambers to override it.
