Finger Lakes Land Trust hits $100K conservation goal

A fall fundraising challenge turned into a big win for land protection across the Finger Lakes.

The Finger Lakes Land Trust announced it met a $100,000 matching challenge, raising the full amount in new gifts to support local conservation efforts. A generous family offered to match donations, and supporters came through before the deadline.

Funds go to work immediately

The Land Trust said the $100,000 will be put to use right away protecting lands and waters across the region.

The money will help permanently conserve drinking water sources, forests, farms, and scenic gorges — places many residents hike, paddle, and enjoy year-round.

“We met the challenge,” the organization said in a message thanking donors. “Together, we raised $100,000 that will go to work right away protecting the lands and waters you love.”

Giving still open in the new year

While the matching challenge has ended, the Land Trust said donations are still welcome.

Any new gift continues to support its mission to conserve natural areas throughout the Finger Lakes. The organization recently surpassed a major milestone of more than 35,000 acres protected forever.

Supporters can still contribute as the Land Trust heads into the new year with new conservation goals.
