Newark man arrested after Geneva Walmart shoplifting

Deputies arrested a man after responding to a reported shoplifting incident at the Geneva Walmart.

Edwin Isaiah Irizarry-Sprague, 28, of Newark, was taken into custody after deputies said he left the store on State Route 5 without paying for merchandise, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the incident happened around 6:47 p.m. on Dec. 19 when deputies responded to a call about a suspected shoplifter at the store.

Investigators reported that Irizarry-Sprague passed all points of sale without paying for $43.50 worth of merchandise. Deputies arrested him on a charge of petit larceny.

Irizarry-Sprague was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Geneva Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.
