Macedon woman charged with stealing over $43K from her mother

A Macedon woman is facing felony charges after investigators say she stole more than $43,000 from her own mother over a period of nearly three years.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested 64-year-old Susan McConnell following a larceny investigation. Deputies say McConnell illegally wrote and cashed checks from her mother’s account from September 2022 through April 2025, without her mother’s knowledge.

McConnell is charged with grand larceny in the third degree, identity theft in the first degree, and eight counts of forgery in the second degree. According to investigators, she forged her mother’s name on checks made out to herself, cashing them over several years.

She was taken to the Wayne County Jail and was scheduled to appear for CAP arraignment on the evening of December 9.
