Canandaigua City Council shaved $621 off its proposed 2026 tax levy after budget adjustments, according to city records. Cuts to fire department overtime and Council pay helped lower the levy to just over $8.15 million.
Even with changes, the tax rate will jump nearly 9% next year. Water and sewer bills are also rising—minimum quarterly water charges will go from $64 to $71, and sewer bills from $72 to $82.
The budget changes passed 7–1. A final vote is set for December 15.
