Midlakes High School sophomore Alivia DeJohn received a Student Leadership Award at the 2025 New York State Council on Leadership and Student Activities Conference held in Niagara Falls.
DeJohn was one of several students representing the Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District at the statewide event. Throughout the weekend, students joined breakout sessions focused on leadership, service, and collaboration. They also participated in roundtable discussions to share and explore ideas with peers from across New York.
The conference opened with a session on “Work2BeWell,” a teen-led mental health initiative that provides free mental health resources to schools and communities. The program promotes inclusivity and empowers underrepresented voices in mental health conversations.
DeJohn has been an active leader throughout her time at Midlakes, involved in leadership programs at both the elementary and secondary levels. She’s also a three-sport athlete, playing varsity volleyball, winter cheerleading, and varsity lacrosse. This fall, she helped lead the volleyball team to the Section V tournament finals. She’s also a past member of Midlakes’ National Elementary and Junior Honor Societies.
