Worker in Cayuga County raid pleads guilty to illegal reentry

A Guatemalan man arrested during a factory immigration raid in Cayuga County has pleaded guilty to reentering the U.S. illegally, according to The Citizen.

Luis Fernando Morales-Jom was among 57 workers detained at Nutrition Bar Confectioners in Ira. He had been deported in 2024 but returned for work. A federal judge sentenced him to time served, clearing the way for deportation.

Four of five similar cases from the raid have now been resolved. The fifth defendant is challenging the legality of her arrest.
