The Buffalo Bills placed wide receiver Mecole Hardman Jr. on injured reserve Thursday, sidelining him after he missed the week of practice with a calf injury. Hardman joined Buffalo’s practice squad on November 11 and was promoted to the 53-man roster four days later, giving the team an experienced return option.
His short stint included a 61-yard kickoff return in Sunday’s win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a spark that helped flip field position. However, he also mishandled a punt that the Bucs were able to recover, one of several special-teams swings in the game.
For Thursday night’s matchup against the Houston Texans, the Bills elevated tight end Keleki Latu and wide receiver Gabe Davis from the practice squad. It’s the second standard elevation of the season for both players.
Latu recorded the first catch of his NFL career in Week 11 against Tampa Bay. Davis, who also saw action last week, contributed three receptions for 40 yards in the victory.
