Thomas “Murph” Murphy, vice president of Power & Construction Group in Scottsville, has been elected chair of the 2026 National Executive Committee for Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).
The announcement was made during ABC’s annual Leadership Institute in Marco Island, Florida. Murphy will lead the national board of directors for the 75-year-old construction industry association, which represents more than 23,000 members nationwide.
“I am blessed and honored to serve ABC and its members in the role of 2026 national chair,” said Murphy. “Starting my construction career in the field taught me to value every role on the jobsite. The merit shop model gives anyone the chance to rise through hard work.”
Murphy has held numerous leadership positions within ABC, including chair-elect, secretary, and Northeast region vice chair. He also served three terms as board chair for ABC’s Empire State Chapter and has been active on several committees and the ABC PAC.
At Power & Construction Group, Murphy is part of the executive leadership team and helps shape the company’s strategic business plan.
“Murph has been instrumental in helping us think more strategically and strengthen our culture,” said P&CG CEO Scott Ingalls. “We know he’ll bring that same focus to his national role.”
Empire State Chapter President Brian Sampson called Murphy a leader with vision and purpose.
“His commitment to merit shop principles and the people who build New York every day is unwavering,” Sampson said.
ABC, founded in 1950, helps construction businesses grow through workforce development, safety initiatives, and support for open competition in the industry.
