A new partnership between Tompkins Cortland Community College and Syracuse University is opening doors for local students to finish their degrees at a top-ranked school.
The two institutions signed a transfer agreement that guarantees TC3 graduates admission into online bachelor’s degree programs at Syracuse’s College of Professional Studies—if they meet certain requirements. The deal also includes discounted tuition.
TC3 President Amy Kremenek called it a big win for students.
“This agreement provides a guaranteed path for our students to transfer into Syracuse University and complete their bachelor’s degree at a top university,” she said. “I am proud of the work of everyone at TC3 and Syracuse for bringing this agreement to fruition.”
The new transfer pathway applies to five TC3 associate degree programs:
- Accounting
- Business Administration
- International Business
- Engineering Science
- Sport Management
Students who graduate from those programs with at least a 3.0 GPA are guaranteed admission into one of two bachelor’s programs at Syracuse: Business Management or Project Management. Once enrolled, they’ll continue receiving the discounted tuition for as long as they stay in the program.
The goal is to expand access to affordable four-year degrees, said Syracuse University’s Dean of Professional Studies, Michael Frasciello.
“This partnership ensures that TC3 graduates have a clear, affordable, and supportive path to earning their bachelor’s degree at Syracuse University,” he said. “We’re excited to welcome these students and help them achieve their academic and career aspirations.”
TC3, located in Dryden, is part of the SUNY system and offers more than 40 academic programs. The school is known for its strong transfer track record and hands-on support services like an on-campus food pantry and mental health care.
