Sinicropi Florist marks 50 years in Seneca Falls

Sinicropi Florist celebrated its 50th anniversary with an open house hosted by the Finger Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, bringing together longtime staff, community leaders, and loyal customers to honor five decades of floral service in downtown Seneca Falls.

The milestone event took place Friday, November 14, at the shop’s location at 64 Fall Street. Guests mingled with the team, enjoyed refreshments, and took part in celebratory activities before gathering for a group photo with the florist’s original and current owners.

Founded in 1975 by Joyce Sinicropi, the shop has built a strong reputation across the Finger Lakes for its fresh flowers, creative designs, and personalized customer service. Over the years, it has become a go-to florist for weddings, birthdays, sympathy arrangements, and everything in between.

Joyce’s retirement marked a turning point for the business. In recent years, the shop was purchased by Allen Floral Group LLC, a Central New York company led by Andrew Allen. Allen’s team operates other florists in Syracuse, Cortland, and Utica, but says they’ve kept Sinicropi’s local charm and staff intact.

Longtime lead designer and manager Betty Shaffer — widely known as “the face” of Sinicropi’s — has worked at the florist for 40 years and prepared many of the refreshments served during the open house.

“It’s not just a flower shop — it’s part of people’s lives,” Chamber President Miranda Odell said during the event. “Sinicropi’s has helped this community celebrate its best days and weather its worst. That’s what makes this anniversary so special.”
