Dr. Mehmet Oz announced plans to revamp the Affordable Care Act, claiming the current system drives up insurance costs, according to WHAM.
Speaking as head of Medicare and Medicaid Services, Oz said the Trump administration aims to replace “unaffordable” Obamacare with a new model giving small businesses more power to choose affordable plans. He blamed rising premiums on excessive federal subsidies and argued that shifting funds would cut prices and expand access.
The new plan—nicknamed Trumpcare—may also let individuals choose their own doctors and restructure how subsidies are applied.
