A Waterloo man was arrested Monday after police say he pinned a woman and then took her vehicle without permission.
Police identified the suspect as Anthony A. Merced, 42, of Waterloo. He faces charges of Criminal Obstruction of Breathing in the 2nd degree, Unlawful Imprisonment in the 2nd degree, and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd degree.
Waterloo Police say the arrest happened on November 3 at approximately 12:31 p.m. It stems from a domestic incident the day before, on November 2, when officers allege Merced pinned the victim to the ground and applied pressure to her throat and mouth to limit her breathing. They say he then took the victim’s vehicle without permission.
Officers transported Merced to the Seneca County Correctional Facility for arraignment. The allegations have not been proven in court.
