Fans of fast-paced comedy and mismatched roommates will get their fix this November as the Midlakes Theatre Experience brings The Odd Couple (Female Version) to the stage.
Hayden Bump and Mackenzie Weitzel lead the cast as Olive Madison and Florence Ungar — two polar opposites who end up as roommates in this twist on Neil Simon’s classic. The show opens Nov. 13 at the Black Box Theatre in Midlakes High School.
This fall production is directed by alum Marie Fischer (Class of 2015) with support from assistant directors Mikayla Wilkes and Stefan Uveges. The technical team features grads from the ’90s to the 2010s, including Cris Brown, Ross Gifford, and Trevor Barcomb, handling everything from lighting to set design.
The production flips familiar roles — with the “guys” swapped for “the gals” during the weekly game night scenes. Cast members Cecelia Clemons, Allison DeRuyter, Ellie Dorr, and Liesl Dorr join as the friends, while seniors Justin Herman and Gavin Ruggles play the double-date Costazuela brothers.
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13 through Saturday, Nov. 15, with a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday, Nov. 16.
Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. They’re available at the Midlakes High School Main Office and several local shops: Sandy’s Floral Gallery (Clifton Springs), Phelps Hometown Pharmacy (Phelps), Renaissance-The Goodie II Shoppe (Canandaigua), and Finger Lakes Goods (Geneva). Day-of tickets cost $2 more and will be limited at the door.
