Who’s running for town and city councils in Canandaigua?

Voters in Canandaigua will have a full slate of local races this fall, with six candidates competing for four at-large seats on City Council and four others seeking two Town Board positions.

Six candidates are running for four at-large seats on Canandaigua City Council, including three Democratic incumbents.

According to The Messenger, Democrats Sim Covington Jr., Doug Merrill, and Gwen Van Laeken are joined by fellow Democrat John “J.T.” Squires. Republicans Jadon Hoffman and Ron Ouimette are also in the race. Voters can choose up to four candidates. Early voting starts Oct. 25, with Election Day set for Nov. 4.

4 candidates compete for 2 Canandaigua Town Board seats

Two Democrats and two Republicans are vying for two open Canandaigua Town Board seats.

According to The Messenger, incumbent Terry Fennelly and Mick Szoczei are running on the Republican and Conservative lines. Democrats Bobby Ellis and Scott Hall are campaigning under the Canandaigua Forward line. Voters may select two candidates for the three-year terms. Early voting starts Oct. 25; Election Day is Nov. 4.
