Starting in January, Walworth residents will see a major change in how they’re billed for sewer service.
The Wayne County Water & Sewer Authority will take over sewer operations and billing from the Town of Walworth as the new Western Wayne Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility nears completion in Palmyra.
The town will send out its final sewer bills around October 1. Those will still be paid directly to the town, as usual. But beginning in January 2026, all sewer bills will come from the county authority and will be delivered alongside your water bill—both listed on the same postcard.
For most residential customers, the new rate will be a flat $60 per quarter. That flat fee means your sewer bill won’t change based on seasonal water use like lawn sprinklers or pool filling.
Non-residential customers will be charged based on how many EDUs (equivalent dwelling units) their property is assigned. For example, a business with 4 EDUs will pay 4 times the $60 quarterly charge.
As part of the transition, the town will stop accepting credit card payments for sewer bills after November 4, 2025. Residents are encouraged to settle any final payments before that date. The town’s sewer department will officially dissolve at the end of the year.
Questions about the new billing system can be directed to the Wayne County Water & Sewer Authority at (315) 986-1929.
