Midlakes invites veterans for special tribute on Nov. 10

Midlakes Schools is calling on local veterans and currently enlisted alumni to take part in a special Veterans Day celebration this November — and they want to hear your stories.

The district’s annual tribute will take place on Monday, Nov. 10, starting with a morning parade through the Elementary Bus Loop. Students from the primary and intermediate schools will line the route to cheer on past and present service members.

Following the parade, guests will head to the secondary school for a formal ceremony in the auditorium. There, they’ll be welcomed by students and staff and honored for their service.

One highlight of the morning will be a slide show featuring Midlakes, Phelps, and Clifton Springs graduates who have served in the military. Organizers are asking families to submit photos and stories of enlisted alumni to be included in the tribute. Submissions can be made at Midlakes.org/VeteransDay.

Midlakes’ first graduating class was in 1971, following the merger of Phelps and Clifton Springs high schools. The celebration will also include student reflections on the importance of honoring veterans and the impact of their service.

Parade staging begins at 9:00 a.m., with the parade stepping off at 9:30. The high school ceremony is expected to begin around 9:45.
