Waterloo assault leads to charges for Berkshire man

A Berkshire man is facing multiple charges after deputies say he locked another man in a room and repeatedly punched him during a violent assault in the Town of Waterloo.

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson says deputies arrested 44-year-old Alvie Johns around 4:55 p.m. on Sunday, October 12. The incident left the victim with physical injuries and required transport to Geneva General Hospital.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Johns cornered the victim into a room, locked the door behind him, and used physical force to prevent the victim from escaping — including dragging him by his clothing. Deputies say Johns struck the man in the face multiple times with a closed fist, causing visible injury.

The victim was later evaluated by medical staff at the hospital.

Johns was charged with assault in the third degree and unlawful imprisonment in the second degree — both Class A misdemeanors. He was taken to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
