Man arrested after chasing woman and children in Auburn

Auburn police arrested a man after officers responded to a terrifying disturbance in a residential neighborhood on Greenview Circle.

The man, identified as Christopher Bell, allegedly charged at a woman and her children while screaming, prompting the family to flee to a nearby home for safety.

According to the Auburn Police Department, the incident unfolded on September 28 when the woman returned home from work and encountered Bell, who became aggressive. Officers said Bell’s behavior caused the woman to back away in fear and tell her children to run. The group was able to take shelter in a nearby residence while calling for help.

During the investigation, police discovered that an active order of protection was in place against Bell, prohibiting him from contacting the victim.

When officers attempted to arrest him, Bell reportedly resisted and tried to retreat. Police took him into custody shortly after.

Bell now faces multiple charges, including:

  • Criminal Contempt 1st (Felony)
  • Aggravated Family Offense (Felony)
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child – 2 counts (Misdemeanor)
  • Menacing 3rd (Misdemeanor)
  • Resisting Arrest (Misdemeanor)

He was transported to the Cayuga County Jail for arraignment and remains in custody.
