A Phelps woman was hospitalized Friday morning after her car slammed into the back of a dump truck on State Route 96.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Route 96 and Hayes Road, near Heidelberg Materials.
According to deputies, 44-year-old Ross Buisch of Clifton Springs was stopped in the eastbound lane of Route 96 in a 2011 dump truck, waiting to make a left turn. That’s when a 2009 Honda Civic, driven by 41-year-old Mary Boughton of Phelps, struck the rear of the truck.
Boughton had to be extricated from the wreckage by Oaks Corners and Phelps firefighters. LifeNet personnel responded, and she was transported by Phelps Ambulance—with LifeNet staff on board—to Strong Memorial Hospital. Her condition has not been released.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
