A cold snap could bring damaging frost to parts of New York and Pennsylvania overnight into Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Frost Advisory from 12:48 a.m. Tuesday through 8 a.m. Thursday. Forecasters say temperatures could drop to between 33 and 38 degrees, creating conditions ripe for frost formation.
In Central New York and the Southern Tier, the advisory covers Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Madison, Southern Oneida, Steuben, Sullivan, Tioga, and Tompkins counties. In Pennsylvania, it includes Bradford, Northern Wayne, Pike, Susquehanna, and Wyoming counties.
Sensitive plants and crops may be at risk if left uncovered. The advisory urges residents to take steps now to protect outdoor vegetation.
