The Buffalo Bills have decided to change punters ahead of Week 2.
On Tuesday, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Buffalo has signed veteran punter Cameron Johnston to the 53-man roster and waived Brad Robbins.
Johnston, 33, was cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers in August after losing a training camp battle to Corliss Waitman. He had signed a three-year deal with the Steelers earlier in 2024 but sustained a season-ending injury in Week 1. Johnston previously spent three seasons each with the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles, posting a career net average of 42.2 yards per punt.
Robbins, 26, handled punting duties in the Bills’ season-opening win over the Baltimore Ravens, averaging 38 net yards on four attempts. Buffalo signed Robbins to a one-year deal back in April to replace Sam Martin, who left for the Carolina Panthers.
Also, kicker Matt Prater has been moved from the practice squad to the active 53-man roster. Tyler Bass is on injured reserve through at least Week 4.
The Bills will take on the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m.
