A proposed affordable housing project in Geneva is now on hold until 2026 after zoning officials rejected key variances, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Lakeview Health Services had hoped to secure state funding this year for its $38 million Lakeview Downtown Lofts, which includes units for people with mental health challenges. But after a 4–0 denial from the Zoning Board of Appeals, the agency says it missed the state’s funding deadline and will wait to reapply next year.
The project has faced strong opposition at public hearings, despite earlier approval from the city’s Planning Board.
