Victor event returns with new focus

A new event called ‘Celebrating Volunteerism’ is launching in Victor. It replaces the official ‘Hang Around Victor Day’ event that ended in 2021.

The community event will be held on Saturday, September 6. It takes place rain or shine at the Pinnacle Athletic Campus & Events Center. Coordinator Randy Shea aims to honor the spirit of volunteerism in Victor.

Honoring a legacy

A noon award ceremony will honor all volunteer groups in attendance. Sue Stehling will be the Legacy Guest of Honor. She organized the original Hang Around Victor Day event from 1977 to 2004.

“If by receiving an award at the event helps encourage more volunteerism in our community, then I’m all in,” Stehling said.

What to expect

This year’s family-friendly event features local food trucks and vendors. It will also have games with prizes, a bounce house, and other kids’ activities.

Community organizations will share information about their missions. An open mic will be available for groups to publicly honor their volunteers.
