New York State Police are investigating a deadly crash that happened Wednesday morning on the Thruway near the border of Seneca and Ontario counties.
Troopers were called to the westbound side of the Thruway in the town of Phelps around 7:41 a.m. for a report of a tractor-trailer rollover.
According to investigators, the vehicle—driven by a 40-year-old man—drifted off the right shoulder, rode along the guiderail, and eventually overturned. The trailer, which was carrying miscellaneous non-hazardous products, remained attached.
The driver, who was the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported to Geneva General Hospital.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
