Canandaigua Halloween celebration moving to Outhouse Park for 2025

The Town of Canandaigua will host its 2025 Halloween celebration on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Richard P. Outhouse Memorial Park.

The free, family-friendly event will take place rain or shine and is expected to be bigger than ever. Last year’s celebration drew more than 1,800 attendees on a sunny fall afternoon, and organizers hope to match that success. The location change from Onanda Park is temporary due to ongoing construction at the Uplands of Onanda Park, which will limit parking there. The town plans to bring the celebration back to Onanda Park in 2026.

This year’s theme, “Trunk & Treat,” will feature participating organizations decorating their vehicles, opening trunks to hand out candy, and offering games or activities for children. Pop-up tents will also be allowed. Event space will be available near Building 100 at Outhouse Park and across the street at Motion Junction. Free refreshments will be offered near Building 100 and at the concession stand at Motion Junction.

The celebration will be led by Greg Reynolds, the town’s new parks and recreation director, working alongside the Special Events Committee. Activities in past years have included pumpkin picking, Halloween storytelling, magic bubbles, firefighter dress-up, craft projects, and games — all designed to create an interactive, family-oriented experience.

Organizers say the event is possible thanks to the involvement of community groups and sponsors. The Special Events Committee is encouraging organizations that participated last year to return for 2025 and invites new groups to take part in the “Trunk & Treat” festivities.
