Emergency crews from multiple agencies responded to Cayuga Lake Wednesday after a boat capsized near Twin Oaks, leaving three people clinging to a buoy.
The incident drew a coordinated water rescue effort involving Union Springs, Aurora, Cayuga, Seneca Falls Fire Department, and Southern Cayuga Ambulance. Rescue boats were launched from several points as dispatchers relayed reports of people in the water.
According to Cayuga/Seneca Fire Wire, Union Springs’ water rescue team was the first to make visual contact with the individuals in distress. All three were safely retrieved from the water a short time later.
One person reportedly experienced a medical issue and was brought to Hibiscus Harbor, where Southern Cayuga and Cayuga ambulances were staged.
However, others refused further treatment, and it was unclear whether anyone was transported to a hospital.
