Child Care Council opens mental health clinic for children and teens

A new outpatient clinic in Rochester is now open to help children and adolescents facing a range of mental health challenges, from anxiety to trauma.

Child Care Council Inc. announced the launch of the clinic, which serves youth ages 3 to 18 and offers individual, family, and group therapy, as well as medication management. The clinic uses a trauma-responsive, inclusive, and research-based approach to care.

“Child mental health is in crisis, as nearly 20% of young people suffer from a mental, emotional or behavioral challenge,” said Jeff Pier, CEO of Child Care Council. “Our new outpatient clinic will help address this crisis and help improve child and adolescent mental health.”

Clinical Director Christen Coco Guzman, LMFT, added that most chronic mental health issues begin in childhood. “Our clinic is designed to improve a child’s mental health through social and emotional skills, play and talk therapy, and other early interventions.”

Located at 595 Blossom Road, Suite 202, the clinic is open Monday through Friday with daytime and evening appointments. Services are available by calling 585-652-8080. Most major insurance plans are accepted.
