The Syracuse Mets are calling on their fans to help create a new identity that reflects Syracuse and the heart of Central New York. Starting today, the club is accepting submissions for a new team name and branding concept, giving the community a direct role in shaping the next chapter of its storied baseball history.
“We want you, our beloved fans, to help us forge our new identity,” the team announced. “Help us become engrained with a new name, a new identity that is about Syracuse and about Central New York!”
Submissions will be accepted until August 31 at 11:59 p.m. EST. On September 2, the organization will reveal the top 10 fan-submitted names, marking the start of a second phase of voting that will narrow the list down to five finalists on September 14. The team will celebrate its 150th season on the field as the Mets in 2026, making this rebranding effort a tribute to the franchise’s rich legacy of identities and affiliations.
Fans can submit their ideas via the team’s official contest page. The Mets are seeking names that encapsulate the spirit, culture, and uniqueness of Syracuse and the Central New York region. Submissions featuring inappropriate language or references will be automatically disqualified.
This naming initiative marks a significant opportunity for fans to leave their mark on the team’s future. “We hope you all come up with a fantastic new identity for your Syracuse Mets,” the team said.
