A small-engine plane crashed Friday on Morton Hill Road in the town of Hornellsville, leaving one person dead and triggering a multi-agency investigation.
New York State Police confirmed the fatality, but the victim’s identity is being withheld until the family is notified. Emergency responders are still on the scene, and authorities have closed off the area to allow rescue and investigative work to continue safely.
The crash site, located in Steuben County, drew a rapid response from local emergency personnel and troopers. Morton Hill Road remains shut down, and officials have urged the public to steer clear of the area.
Both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been notified and are expected to assist in the investigation. No additional details have been released.
