An early morning assault with a hammer at the Green Street Parking Garage left one person hospitalized and another in jail on Thursday.
Police arrested 24-year-old Ithaca resident Jordan M. Berrios several hours after the incident. Officers found and detained Berrios in the Asteri building at 118 East Green Street.
The Ithaca Police Department said officers responded to a report of an assault just after 7 a.m. at the downtown parking garage. When they arrived, they found a victim who had been “physically assaulted and struck by a hammer.” The person was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Berrios faces multiple charges, including felony counts of second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, as well as a misdemeanor charge of second-degree menacing. Judge Peacock arraigned Berrios in Ithaca City Court, and he was remanded to Tompkins County Jail.
