The Trump administration is moving to revoke a 2009 ruling that gave the Environmental Protection Agency power to regulate greenhouse gases, according to Spectrum News 1. The reversal would gut the EPA’s ability to target emissions under the Clean Air Act.
New York environmental chief Amanda Lefton warned the move could undercut efforts to fight climate change nationwide. The 2009 “endangerment finding” has been central to U.S. clean air enforcement for over a decade.
Lefton said New York will pursue its own aggressive climate policies, regardless of federal rollbacks.
