Trump hits second-term low in job approval

President Donald Trump’s approval rating has dropped to 37%, his lowest in his second term, driven largely by a sharp decline among independents, according to Gallup. Only 29% of independents approve of his performance — matching his all-time low with that group.

Despite signing a major legislative package in July, Trump’s approval on key issues like immigration, the economy, and foreign policy remains weak. His average second-quarter rating of 40% lags well behind most past presidents at this stage. Independents also pulled down his favorability rating to 41%, down from 48% in January.

While Republican support remains high, Trump continues to face historically low ratings outside his base. Analysts say he’s accomplished key goals, but approval hasn’t followed.
