State Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan has secured $30,000 in funding for the Red Jacket Community Library in Manchester, providing a critical boost to the rural institution’s operations and services.
Gallahan presented the check to the library’s board of trustees and staff this week, highlighting the library’s importance to families and children throughout the area.
“Our rural libraries are essential to the educational and personal development of our children,” said Gallahan, who represents the 131st Assembly District. “They provide a safe space to learn, explore and grow. I am proud to support the Red Jacket Community Library and will continue fighting for the funding our libraries need to thrive.”

The library plans to use the funding to support early literacy programs, enhance public internet access, and maintain its facility as a welcoming hub for learning and community engagement.
“We are incredibly grateful to Assemblyman Gallahan for securing this funding,” said Library Director Jordan Schneider. “This support helps us continue delivering vital services like early literacy programs and digital access while also allowing us to plan for the library’s long-term future.”
Gallahan’s office said the funding reflects his ongoing effort to strengthen local institutions across the district, which includes portions of Ontario, Seneca, Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Broome, and Chenango counties.
