Cayuga County wind project draws pushback

A proposed wind turbine development in Cayuga County is facing backlash from a local advocacy group, according to Finger Lakes Daily News.

The Alliance to Preserve the Finger Lakes opposes Liberty Renewables’ Agricola Wind Project, which would place 24 massive turbines—each 680 feet tall—across farmland in Scipio and Venice. Group leaders argue the plan threatens scenic views and agricultural sustainability, and claim many residents remain unaware of the project’s scale and impact.

Because the project exceeds 24 megawatts, the state, not local officials, will oversee its approval. A public hearing hosted by the state’s renewable energy office is set for August 6 in Auburn.
