Auburn man charged with felony after riding in stolen truck

A 23-year-old Auburn man was arrested Saturday in connection with a stolen pickup truck discovered during a June traffic stop in Aurelius.

Deputies with the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office took Kaya J. Frazier into custody on July 27 and charged him with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, a felony.

Authorities said the case began on June 10, when deputies pulled over a pickup truck on Beech Tree Road around 11:30 p.m. Frazier was a passenger in the vehicle. The driver was issued traffic tickets and released at the scene.

A few days later, the truck’s owners realized it had been stolen and had also been involved in a crash. Investigators secured warrants for the vehicle’s occupants based on that information.

Frazier was arraigned in CAP Court and released on his own recognizance.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office or submit a tip online or through the SaferWatch app.
